PURPOSE:To ensure that paper is transported to a specified position accurately by reversing a platen to move the paper backward, then moving the platen forward and stopping the platen before the specified position by the amount of paper sag which allows the platen to move forward. CONSTITUTION:A cut slip form 3 is held between a platen 2 and a pinch roller 5, and power is disconnected to the first and second motors 10, 11 until a bail roller 8 is temporarily separated from the platen 2 by movement of a carriage. After this, the motor 10 rotates forward synchronized to the backward rotation of the motor 11. Consequently, the tip of the cut slip form 3 is transported to a printing position, that is, a position slightly above the bail roller 8 by the platen 2 and intermediate rollers 27, 28. Later, the motor 10 continues rotating forward and the motor 11 stops. In other words, only the platen 2 rotates counterclockwise with the intermediate rollers 27, 28 kept in a stationary condition. This condition results in the transport amount of a cut slip form 3 by the platen becoming larger than that by the intermediate rollers 27, 28. Thus the sag is removed at this point of time.
