摘要 Activation of polystyrene solid surfaces comprises sequential treatment with different organosilanes of formula (X-R'n')nSi-(R)4-n (I). X = NH2, carbonyl, COOH, epoxy, isocyano, diazo, isothiocyano, nitroso, SH or halocarbonyl; R' = opt. branched alkyl, alkylphenyl or phenyl; R = alkoxy, phenoxy or halo; n' = 0-20; n = 1-3. USE/ADVANTAGE - Treated surfaces are useful for binding biological macromolecules, biological materials and low mol. wt. cpds., esp. used in biology and medicine (esp. in immunology). They have high binding affinity and capacity, and can be prepd. inexpensively and relatively simply. The activated surfaces are stable and can be stored, dry or wet, for a long time. They provide stable attachment of macromolecules etc. with reduced non-specific binding. Activation does not change the optical properties of the surfaces.
