Herbicidal soil improvers prodn. - by heating lignocellulosic material with acid

Prodn. of soil improvers with herbicidal activity is effected by heating a lignocellulosic material (I) in the presence of acid. Pref. (I) comprises wood or annual plants (sic). ADVANTAGE - The prods. are stated to kill existing weeds, prevent invasion of new weeds for long periods, activate soil organisms, increase soil humus content, inhibit soil erosion, and serve as carriers for mineral fertilisers.
