Two-colour injection moulding to produce undercut sections - by moulding undercut component insert first and then second material around it, avoiding need for complicated sliding tool

A two-stage injection process is used in which in a first step an insert is moulded with surfaces which form undercuts around which the plastic from a second stage injection forms itself. The insert therefore forms the undercut surfaces on the final component. In an advantageous form of the process the tool for the insert is swung into position, after the first moulding step, onto the injection equipment for the second stage. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method uses the two-colour injection process avoiding the use of complicated, expensive moving tool inserts and allows easy component extraction.
