MANUFACTURE OF ELECTRODE PLATE FOR LEAD-ACID BATTERY

PURPOSE:To prevent early capacity reduction due to the reduction of adhesion between an active material and a lattice by restricting the specific quantity of sulfuric acid added when paste is kneaded. CONSTITUTION:In the paste manufacturing process in which lead powder and minimum are mixed and the mixture and water and sulfuric acid are kneaded as main components, the ratio of added sulfuric acid against lead monoxide in lead oxide is limited to 0.19-0.25mol against lead monoxide 1mol. Tribasic lead sulfate required to obtain sufficient adhesion when minimum is mixed, and the same adhesion between an active material and a lattice is obtained as that available when only lead powder is used. The early capacity reduction due to the peeling between the active material and the lattice generated by overcharging at the time of formation-charging and caused by the reduction of adhesion between the active material and the lattice can be prevented.
