<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a shock caused by a change-over between an acceleration and a deceleration by a method wherein the number of line feed pulses required for feeding a line is found, and a phase exciting signal corresponding to a fixed pulse number out of the line feed pulse number is transmitted at a specific timing after a line feed is started CONSTITUTION:With the reception of a line feed instruction, a CPU 11 judges whether a pulse number (x) required for feeding one line stored in a RAM 13 is even or odd. If this number is odd, a formula [(x-1)/2]-2 is operated; if it is even, a formula (x/2)-2 is operated. The result is stored in the RAM 13. An exciting phase change-over timing t1 is read from n=1 in a table stored in a ROM 12, and a phase is excited during a period of time t1. This process is successively repeated up to n=[(x-1)/2]-2 to accelerate a pulse motor 19. With an even pulse number (x), it is repeated up to n=(x/2)-2. Next, without changing the value (n) at this time, only the phase is changed over 5 times in the case of an odd number (x), or 4 times in the case of an even number (x).
