A highly absorbable pharmaceutical composition containing, as the active ingredient, methyl 3-phenyl-2(E)-propenyl 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate (hereinafter referred to as "compound of the present invention") as in the form of an amorphous state with pH-dependent type methacrylic acid and its derivatives copolymers, so as to improve the absorbability to the compound of the present invention through the gastrointestinal tract when the composition is orally administered. The compound of the present invention has pharmacological activities, for example antihypertensive effect and others.
