Inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, as in treating hyperlipopproteinaemia, lipoproteinaemia and arteriosclerosis, with the new N-substituted N-amino-pyrroles of the formula <IMAGE> (I) in which R1 is an organic radical, R2 is an aryl or heteroaryl radical, R3 is a hydrogen or an organic radical, R4 and R5 each independently is hydrogen or an organic radical or, together, they complete a heterocylic ring, X is -CH2-CH2- or -CH=CH-, A is <IMAGE> R10 is hydrogen or alkyl, and R11 is hydrogen, an organic radical or a cation.
