PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent durability of coating film and wear resistance of head, by incorporating a polisher, alpha iron oxide of nonmagnetic grain, fatty acid and fatty acid ester in a magnetic substance layer consisting of magnetic powder and a resin binder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic paint where a polishing agent having >=6 Morse hardness(molten alumina, silicon carbide, chromium oxide, corundum and the like, particles of 0.05-5mu average particle diameter), ferromagnetic powder, nonmagnetic particle iron oxide(5-30 wt% based on magnetic powder of 0.2mu- 1mu particle size), fatty acid(saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having 6-22 carbon number such as caprylic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, oleic acid or the like)and fatty acid ester(faity acid ester having <= deg.C melting point such as that of methyl stearate, butyl palmitate, and butyl myristate) are dispersed into a resin binder, is coated on a base to form a magnetic recording medium. |
