The invention relates to a setting device for moving a roll into engagement with a mating roll and moving it clear thereof. On each end of the roll there is a roll trunnion or journal which is borne in a bearing outer part, which is supported in a stationary chair. The latter is made up of a base plate and a guide plate, which extends along the external end face of the bearing outer part. The latter has guide claws which fit around the guide plate so that the bearing outer part may be moved along the guide plate. In the base plate there are two single acting hydraulic pistons for displacing the bearing outer part in one direction. For displacing the bearing outer part in the other direction an additional hydraulic piston is arranged in the upper part of the guide plate in order to engage the roll trunnion. |
