PURPOSE: To uniformly machine the inner surface of a hollow body by putting a cutting tool into a circular pendulum movement about a pendulum shaft parallel to a forward-feed direction, and holding constant the vertical interval of the pendulum shaft from the inner surface of the hollow body when the cutting tool circles the peripheral edge of the area to be machined. CONSTITUTION: A tool holding member 5 is connected to the rotatable part of a forward-feed rotary drive 4. The tool holding member 5 is put into a pendulum movement about a pendulum shaft 8 perpendicular to the position adjustment directions of the rotation axis 7 of the rotary drive 4 and a cutting tool 6 by a motor type pendulum drive 9. During the pendulum movement, the inner surface of a hollow body 3 is continuously detected by an interval sensor 10 through contact, and a radial position adjustment apparatus 11 for the cutting tool 6 is actuated in accordance with this detected value to hold constant the vertical interval of the pendulum shaft 8 from the inner surface of the hollow body 3. Therefore, even if the hollow body 3 is flat, the inner surface of the hollow body 3 can be cut uniformly. |
