PURPOSE:To mass-produce the same hardware for a long period without the redesign of the hardware by reading out the contents of a character generator from an external processing unit. CONSTITUTION:When the body 1 of a printing system outputs a chatacter generator (CG) reading instruction or signal and a JIS code, a controlling part 12 in a printer 10 reads out a character pattern from a CG13 and outputs the read character pattern to the system body 1 through an interface 14. Subsequently it is unnecessary to incorporate a CG suitable for the printer into the system body 1 and display and printing can be attained by character codes, constituting the printing system without the change of the system. |
