The present invention proposes a roll for smoothing apparatus or calenders which is provided with one journal, preferably with two journals, in particular screwed-on journals, and a roll body and has a closed central internal bore of enlarged diameter; a liquid heat transfer medium is guided through the roll in peripheral channels near to the surface of the roll; and provided in proximity to the central bore of enlarged diameter are further axial holes of small diameter, through which the heat transfer medium is passed, flows back, for example, to one journal, which is in general the inlet journal, and is removed from the roll in order to be temperature-regulated again externally. <IMAGE> |
