PURPOSE:To offer the on-vehicle navigation capable of navigation even when traveling in an area outside the range of map data by displaying the direction of an area where a map data group is present on a display when detecting the current recognized position of a vehicle not being in the area of a storage medium where the map data group is stored. CONSTITUTION:A system controller 5 includes a CPU 7 which calculates the travel distance, travel direction, current coordinates, etc., of the vehicle according to output data of respective sensors 1 - 4 which are sent in order from an interface 6. When it is decided that the current position coordinates are outside the map range, a program performs the processing of a no-map travel module. Then, a decision display which is a red display when there is map data as to eight directions centering the position of the vehicle or a black display when there is no map data is made on the display 17 and a driver is informed of the direction of the area where the map data group is present. |
