The end part 25a of the vent pipe 25 located inside the expansion volume 26 has a bent shape and includes a terminal section which is inclined with respect to the horizontal and points upwards, the upper end of which is open to the inside of the expansion volume 26, and a substantially horizontal section. A plurality of openings of small size pass through the wall of the vent pipe in the vicinity of the bend 33 of its part located in the expansion volume 26. Filling of the tank to its nominal capacity may be obtained in a single operation even in the case of a liquid fuel such as diesel fuel which tends to foam. <IMAGE>
