PURPOSE:To equal the recording density of this device to the recording density of a magneto- optical recording and to obtain the high recording density and high recording and reproducing speed by forming superconducting layers at the front ends of the parts where the magnetic lines of induction are generated of the magnetic poles constituting the magnetic head and providing these layers with normal conductive windows. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic field generating systems 13 and 13' between which a disk 12 is inserted consist of the main magnetic pole 14 installed on the side where a magnetic layer 11 exists and the auxiliary magnetic pole 15 installed on the opposite side. The superconducting layers 17 having about 1mum film pressure and having the compsn. consisting of YBa2Cu3O7 are provided on the front ends of the respective magnetic poles 14, 15. A soft magnetic material 19 is provided around the main magnetic pole 14. Parts 21 connecting the main magnetic poles 14, 15 are previously formed with the windows for the slit-like magnetic fluxes by irradiating these parts with electromagnetic radiations to convert the parts to a normal conductor or insulator. The spread of the magnetic fluxes from the magnetic head used for the inversion of the spontaneous magnetization in the recording parts of the magnetic recording medium is narrowed by passing the magnetic fluxes through the small normal conductive parts provided in the superconductors, by which the high-density recording is enabled. Such a matter that either of the recording density or recording and reproducing speed is low is obviated in this way.
