Instead of the overrun brakes customarily used to brake a trailer connected to a towing unit, in which the braking force acts after a delay, a dual-circuit brake system acts immediately on the wheels of the trailer and ensures reliable braking of the trailer even if one of the brake circuits fails. To this end, an auxiliary brake system for a single-axle trailer is associated with a separate brake fluid circuit and connected to the dual-circuit brake system of a passenger car by a double non-return valve (6). The double non-return valve is connected on each side to one of the two brake system circuits and associated with the dual-circuit brake system for the rear axle (9) of the towing unit. |
