PURPOSE:To obtain a photomagnetic recording medium which can be recorded and read from a base and is tolerable to dirt, by forming a transparent conductive film on a transparent insulation base, applying a DC bias to this film, and forming a rare earth transition metallic film on this film by a sputterming method as a magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 12 such as SnO2 is formed on one side of a transparent base 3 such as glass and plastic. This base 3 is supported to an anode 1 by a holder 2 with the conductive film 12 faced downward, a DC bias is applied from a DC power supply, a rare-earth transition metallic magnetic film 13 such as CdCo and TbFe is formed, by placing a target 5 on a cathode 7 and efficiently supplying power from a high frequency power supply 8 between the anode 1 and the cathode 7 by a matching box 9. A uniform film can be formed by forming the film 13 via the conductive film 12. Thus, a recording medium which can be recorded and read from the base 3 and prevents interference at reading and recording due to dust, etc. can easily be obtained. |
