Tubing (1) of conductive material is slidable over the part of the body to be heated. A sleeve of elastic material surrounds the body part is joined to the tubing, allowing the space between the latter and the body part to be filled with a liq. medium of high dielectric constant. Elements (4) project into the liq. medium through the tubing to induce an alternating electrical or magnetic field such that a standing waveguide wave can be excited in the tubing including the body part at the place to be heated to a definite max. Pref. both the sleeve and tubing are of several, variously combinable axial segments. ADVANTAGE - High concn. yet without burdening neighbouring tissue layers. Easy to handle.
