The bracket for supporting a suspended ceiling is made in two parts. The upper part (2) consists of a channel section (14) which extends downwards from a flat fixing plate (8). The inside surface of the web of the channel section is serrated and the lower end of the web has a boss (6) with a tapped hole (7). The lower part (3) consists of a channel section which fits between the flanges of the upper part. The edges of the flanges of the lower part have serrations which engage the serrations of the upper part. The lower part has a longitudinal slot (5) for a clamping bolt (4) which engages the thread (7) 1n the boss (6). The lower part has spring fingers (22) to grip the suspended ceiling (25).
