Control of flow of fluid pumped into patient's body - roller pump with variable position rollers

The pump for pumping a fluid through a flexible tube (10) into a patient's body consists of a rotating disc (18) which carries six equally spaced rollers (1 to 6). The rollers press the flexible tube (10) against the concave surface of the support (20) and so pump the liq. through the tube. With this type of pump there is a risk of a transient reversal of the flow as each roller passes the edge of the concave surface. This reversal of flow is prevented by fitting a device which varies the position of each roller (1to 6) as it passes the edge (20') and also varies the motor speed.
