Self-stabilising chimney structure - is made from open-ended hollow cylinders joined end to end and supported by tubular balloons
摘要
The self-stabilising flexible chimney consists of a number of open-ended hollow cylinders (1) which are joined end to end. Each cylinder (1) is made of a flexible material such as a woven fabric or foil which is impervious to gas. Each cylinder is attached to a balloon (2) in the form of a circular tube. Each balloon is designed to support its own weight together with that of the attached cylinder (1). The cylinders (1) are joined together by a gas-tight sliding clasp fastener or similar joint. The cylinders (1) are aligned about a vertical axis by cables (4) which pass through lugs (5) attached to the balloons (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Transportable chimneys are lightweight and self-supporting.
