The invention relates to a collision protection device with an inflatable gas cushion (5) on a vehicle (1) with a sensor (6) to provide a trigger for inflating the cushion (5). A pyrotechnic charge to generate the gas to inflate the cushion (5) is connected to the sensor (6), so that this charge is ignited by a sensor signal. According to the invention, the sensor (6) is also connected to a blower (9) which is also controlled with the triggering of the cushion (5) or the ignition of the pyrotechnic charge and serves to evacuate the combustion gases flowing from the cushion (5) out of the passenger compartment. For this purpose it is possible to use either a separate blower or preferably the blower fitted in the ventilation or air-conditioning system at its highest setting. |
