Air-cured compsns. useful as sealants and adhesives - contg. reaction prod. of anhydride gp.-contg. copolymer with unsatd. amine or alcohol and transition metal soap

Materials (I) which are curable with atmospheric oxygen contain as main components (A) the reaction prod. of (a) a copolymer (II) and (b) a cpd. (III) with an NH or OH gp. contg. unit(s) of formula (IIIa, b or c), and (B) 0.1-5 wt.% (w.r.t. A + B) of a transition metal soap; (II) is a copolymer of (a1) 30-90 wt.% up to 22C (meth)acrylate ester, up to 20C vinyl carboxylate and/or 3-33C vinyl ether, (a2) 2-30 wt.% olefinic monomer contg. a carboxylic anhydride gp. and (a3) 0-40 wt.% other olefinic comonomers; (I) are produced by copolymerising the above comonomers, reacting (II) with (III) and mixing the prod. with (B). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful as sealants or adhesives (claimed) (I) are easily and quickly produced; they have good adhesion to wood, glass, plastics, masonry, etc., and are cured by atmospheric oxygen; the cured prods. are highly flexible and elastic; they are readily painted over and are highly resistant to weathering.
