A shaped body for combating insects in closed areas comprises a solid, acid-free paraffin hydrocarbon, e.g. of m.p. 60-62‹C., containing a pulverulent adsorbent having adsorbed thereon a volatile phosphoric acid ester insecticide which is substantially insoluble in the solid paraffin hydrocarbon, said adsorbentbearing hydrocarbon being porous in structure. The insecticide may be dichlorvos or the bromine equivalent thereof, and the adsorbent may be cellulose, starch; cork, silicic acid, or a silicate (in particular kieselguhr, vermiculite or talcum). Optional ingredients are vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymers, epoxidized vegetable oils, pigments, scents and dispersing agents. The shaped body should have a smallest dimension of not more than 1.5cm. and may be in the form of a rod, hollow cylinder, sheet or prism.</p> |
