<p>PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain a high-gloss base paper of high reflectance, usable in e.g. advertisement by applying a base coat on a substrate followed by applying thereon an overcoat of coating slip comprising fine particles, binder(s) and microparticulate gloss pigment. CONSTITUTION: This high-gloss base paper is obtained by applying on a substrate (e.g. polyester film) a 1st coat or base coat of conventional composition at 3-25 g/m<2> followed by applying thereon an overcoat of coating slip containing at least 60 wt.% of particles <27μm in size and comprising sufficient amounts of at least one conventional binder (e.g. synthetic rubber), a conventional pigment (e.g. calcium carbonate) and a gloss pigment (e.g. kaolin) consisting of microparticles each 0.05-1 (pref. about 0.5)μm in size in the proportion of >=20 wt.% based on the conventional pigment.</p> |
