PURPOSE:To improve wet performance while preventing the tendency of localized wear and catching pebbles by forming sub-grooves connecting a multiplicity of lug grooves to each other, and forming a lower height projections in the connection grooves. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a tread portion 32 of a tire are formed a multiplicity of lug grooves 34 at specified intervals in the circumferential direction of the tire to define land portions 40. Sub-grooves 38 each for connecting at least two lug grooves 34 to each other are formed in the approximate center within a range about 50% of the tread width. In each sub-groove 38 is formed a low height projection 44 extending along the sub-groove 38. The relationship between the width W1 of the sub-groove 38 and the depth d1 from the tread surface of each lug groove 38, and the width W2 of the lower height projection and the surface height d2 of the lower height projection from the sub-groove bottom is secified as: (W1 - W2)/2W1<0.2, 0.70<d2/d1<0.95. |
