PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of display quality due to a spacer by discriminating a display cell near a spacer from the other, individually determining a value of a voltage to be impressed or a time of impression according to the discrimination and making each of both display cells emit light. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, aging by a common aging voltage is started for total discharge cells C, Cs. Then, a light emission condition is kept until a first aging time set on the discharge cell C has elapsed. When the first aging time has elapsed, measure are taken such that an aging voltage can be impressed exclusively on external connection 13 and 14 corresponding to the discharge cell C only. In this condition, the same aging voltage as above is impressed to make only the discharge Cs near a spacer 8 emit light so that the light emission condition is kept until a second aging time especially set on the discharge cell Cs has elapsed. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a uniform aging effect at all the display cells. |
