PURPOSE:To obtain an oriented film with high strength and high elastic modulus which is capable of being sufficiently oriented at the lower temperature than the glass transition temperature by soaking, a polyether ketone non-oriented film in a solvent consisting mainly of 1,3-dimenthyl-2-imidazolidinone, after that swelling it. CONSTITUTION:A solvent used in the swelling and orientation of a polyether ketone non-oriented film consists mainly of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone(DMI). Namely, it is a single of DMI, or a mixed solvent which is DMI and compatible with DMI and mixed with the lean solvent of polyether ketone. In the case of a mixed solvent of DMI and water, the density is set to 85% or more, and the temperature of swelling bath is set to 20%-80%. The polyether ketone film swelled in this manner is oriented, and the orientation is conducted in an orientation atmosphere solvent. The orientation temperature is set at 20-60 deg.C, and the orientation method is adaptable in any of free breadth uniaxial orientation, a certain breadth uniaxial orientation, simultaneous biaxial orientation, and sequential biaxial orientation. |
