PURPOSE:To obtain the roll material in which the chipping of a matrix is prevented and furthermore having excellent wear resistance compared to a high Cr roll material by forming it from the compsn. contg. each prescribed amt. of C, Cr, Si, Mo, Mn and Ni and the balance Fe with impurities. CONSTITUTION:The above roll material is formed from the compsn. contg., by weight, 2.0 to 3.5% C, 0.01 to 5.0% Cr, 1.5% Si, 2.0 to 16.0% Mo, <=1.5% Mn, 2.0 to 10.0% Ni and the balance Fe with impurities. In the roll material, by positively adding Mo, the hardenability of the matrix structure is improved. At the same time, by abundantly forming fine Mo-series carbides having high hardness and furthermore forming Cr series carbides in the matrix structure, its wear-resistance is improved. On the other hand, by positively adding Ni, the entering of the matrix structure into solid soln. is progressed to form a structure in which above both carbides are held by the rigid matrix structure. |
