An alarm system detects an unauthorized approach towards a protected object, such as an automobile, and provides verbal warnings to the person approaching the object, that he or she must move away from the object or an alarm will be triggered. The alarm system includes a proximity detector to detect an intrusion into an adjustable electromagnetic field set up around the object and means for generating vocal signals using synthetic speech generation circuits. Such vocal signals instruct the intruder to back away from the protected object before the alarm is triggered, thereby preventing the intruder from inflicting any damage to the object; and draw attention to the fact that an unauthorized penetration or entry event has occurred in the event the alarm is triggered. The user may select various operating modes and performance options in how the system is used. |
