PURPOSE:To economically render development uniform without using special chemicals and a special apparatus by immersing a material to be developed in a preceding bath set under conditions which do not activate a developing agent and by immersing the material in a developing soln. CONSTITUTION:In the development of a photosensitive silver halide material, the material is immersed in a preceding bath contg. a developing agent and set under conditions which do not activate the agent. The material is tehn immersed in a developing soln. contg. a developing agent belonging to the same kind or the same group that the developing agent used in the preceding bath or having extreme efficaciousness to it. The conditions for the preceding bath include (1) the pH of the bath lowered to such a degree that the contained developing agent is not activated, (2) the developing agent which does not well show the developing effect by oneself, (3) processing in the bath for such a short time that a developing effect is not recognized, and (4) processing in the bath at such a low temp. that a developing effect is not recognized. One of the conditions (1)-(4) is required. |
