PURPOSE:To detect a state in which sheets that have not been neatly piled are fed by a method wherein a signal is transmitted when the length of the sheet is greater than a reference value in an apparatus for stamping a seal on the sheet material. CONSTITUTION:Carriage rollers 2, 3 are turned by a driving source, so that a sheet material is carried by means of a carriage belt supported by the rollers 2, 3. A detector for detecting the sheet material comprises, for instance, a light detecting element and a light emitting element, making it known that one end of the sheet material has reached the detector. A seal impression 5 is provided on the surface of a stamping drum 6 to which the impression is applied when one end of the sheet material has reached the stamping position. As the sheet is carried on, the detector detects the other end of the sheet material and, by comparing its length with a reference value, it also detects sheets that have not been neatly piled and fed into the detector, which is then able to count the number of times that such sheets have been fed in, sound an alarm and so on. |
