PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a battery by making the whole body compact and light while allowing it to operate with less power consumption by a construction wherein two type rings are provided and the number of carriage mechanisms is reduced so that symbols and numerals are printed in the first and second figures, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 2 caused to be moving against a carriage spring 34 by a shifting mechanism is supplied with a hammer 11 used to selectively push out a type belt 3 having types 3a of operational symbols and the like, a type belt having types 4a of numerals and the like, and the projections 3b, 4b of the types. Then, when the symbol in the first figure in each line is printed, the carriage 2 is returned to the initial position by means of the carriage spring 34 to turn the type belt 3, whereas a type location signal is employed to operate the hammer 11 so that a desired type is used for printing. For types in the second figure and thereafter, the hammer 11 is moved to the type belt 4 side so that desired types are used for printing. |
