TREATMENT OF ALCOHOL WASTE WATER BY METHANE FERMENTATION

PURPOSE:To efficiently treat alcohol waste water by anaerobically treating alcohol waste water enhanced in its propagation activity of methane bacteria by the addition of a specific amount of nitrogen and phosphorus by methane fermentation. CONSTITUTION:The alcohol waste water in an alcohol waste water tank 3 is introduced into a treatment tank 1 held to predetermined temp. and receiving a carrier 2 having methane bacteria immobilized thereon using a pump 4. The alcohol waste water is treated anaerobically by the action of methane bacteria and org. matter is decomposed into methane and carbon dioxide. In this case, since the alcohol waste water itself is low in the content of nitrogen and phosphorus to BOD, a nutrient solution is supplied to the treatment tank 1 from a nutrient tank 5 by a pump 6 to control the contents of nitrogen and phosphorus of the alcohol waste water so that N/BOD is 0.06 or more. P/BOD is 0.0015 or more and the concn. of nitrogen is 1500mg/l or less.
