摘要

PURPOSE:To improve wear and thermal shock resistances and strength at high temp. by forming a specified coating layer on the surface of a carbon fiber- carbon composite material as a base material. CONSTITUTION:A carbon fiber-carbon composite material contg. carbon fibers as a reinforcing material in carbon is used as a base material. A coating layer consisting of carbon and the carbide of a group IVa, Va or VIa element, B or Al;, contg. carbon at the lower part brought into contact with the base material and the carbide at the surface part and having a compsn. varying continuously from carbon to the carbide between the lower and surface parts is formed on the surface of the base material by chemical vapor deposition.
