PURPOSE:To improve contrast, sensitivity and environmental resistance of the medium and to prevent secular change in performances by forming a metal reflecting layer using Al containing a specified amt. of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:A metal layer 2 is provided on a substrate 1 or on a recording layer 3 on a substrate 1, otherwise, a recording layer 3, interferential layer 4 and a metal layer 2 are successively formed on a substrate 1. The metal layer 2 consists of Al and oxygen with oxygen content of 0.1 - 20 atomic %. Other metal may be added to the Al layer 2 to enhance the chemical stability of the layer. The metal to be added is selected from those which make stable oxides by itself to prevent oxygen from intruding into the Al grains, such as V, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, etc. |
