PURPOSE:To carry out highly reliable exhaust gas purification for the use for a long time by immersing a porous carrier in liquid, adhering a coating material containing catalyst grains, stoving, and carrying an exhaust gas purifying catalyst on the porous carrier. CONSTITUTION:Prior to carrying a catalyst on a porous carrier, a porous carrier is immersed in liquid. At that time, the porous section of the carrier is filled with said liquid. Therefore, if the same is immersed in sol composed of catalyst grains in said state, dispersion medium is not absorbed into the porous material and the sol in the vicinity of the carrier retains fluidity. When said porous carrier is taken up from the sol, the catalyst is adhered thinly and uniformly around the porous carrier (In case the same is not immersed in the liquid, and immersed in the sol, only dispersion medium infiltrates into through said pores and catalyst grains only are adhered on the surface of carrier and the catalyst is peeled off easily.). Highly reliable exhaust gas purification can be carried out for the use for a long time by stoving said adhesive film and providing a catalyst layer of superior mechanical strength. |
