<p>PURPOSE:To decrease missing thin lines or deformation at reduction conversion by using a mean density data of a conversion picture element being the result of calculation of the projection method as a multivalue picture data so as to apply binarization after edge emphasis processing. CONSTITUTION:One line of input picture data is received synchronously with a line synchronizing signal and one page of picture input data is inputted synchronously with a page synchronizing signal. Then the density of a conversion picture element is calculated by the projection method to an input picture in a projection method processing section 11 and the result is subject to edge emphasis by an edge emphasis processing section 12. That is, when an original picture element 51 is reduced to 10/21, for example, a caption 52 depicts the calculation of converted picture element density by the projection method and A, B...I are values normalizing the mean density of the converted picture element to unity. A value 63 resulting from applying edge emphasis processing to a mean density data string 52 of the converted picture element obtained from the original picture element 51 is subject to binarizing processing to obtain the converted picture 64. Thus, missing of thin lines or the like is prevented.</p> |
