PURPOSE:To grow a good-quality single crystal in a short period of time and to form a waveguide of a large area by forming an org. compd. in the form of a thin film on a substrate and heating the substrate and thereby growing the single crystal of the org. compd. CONSTITUTION:The org. compd. is formed in the form of the thin film by vacuum deposition on the substrate 1 and thereafter the thin film surface is partially heated successively from one end, by which the single crystal of the org. compd. is grown and the optical waveguide 3 is produced. The thin film-like waveguide layer 3 consisting of the org. compd. is formed by vacuum deposition in such a manner, by which the purity is increased in the formed thin film-like waveguide layer 3 and the crystallinity is improved. The large-area waveguide 3 is thus formed uniformly in a short period of time. |
