PURPOSE:To ensure the use of the magnetic energy efficiently, by setting two strips made of a material having high magnetic permeability in opposition to the surface of a vertical magnetic recording medium having a thin film of a high magnetic permeability film material and joining these two strips to each other with a soft magnetic material wound by a coil. CONSTITUTION:For a vertical magnetic recording medium M, a thin film of a material having high magnetic permeability is formed on a substrate 31 made of a nonmagnetic material, and a magnetic film 33 which shows the vertical anisotropy with high coercive force is formed on the film 32. For a vertical magnetic recording/reproducing head, strips 35A and 35B of a material having high magnetic permeability are provided on the surface of a substrate 34 of a nonmagnetic material, an end of these strips is connected to each other by means of a material having high magnetic permeability 36 like the ferrite, etc. and a coil 37 is wound around the material 36. Thus the magnetic flux 38 generated by the coil 37 is concentrated at a tip of the strip 35A to enter the film 32 from the opposite direction through the film 32. At the same time, the flux 38 is concentrated at the tip of the strip 35B to be recorded backward. A closed loop is formed in the reproduction mode by the strips 35A and 35B at the magnetized position of the medium M. Thus a reproduced current is obtained at the coil 37. |
