The seal 4 intended to provide sealing of an assembly by screwing between a male piece 1 and a female piece, interacts with a groove 13 provided on the male piece 1 in order to remain integral with this male piece 1 when the latter is not joined to the female piece. The profile of the groove 13 comprises two flanks 131, 132 which are inclined at substantially 45 DEG with respect to the axis 10 of the male piece and connected by a bottom 133 parallel to this axis. The diameter of the bottom of the groove is less than the diameter of the bottom of the screw threads. The seal is produced from a ductile metal and comprises a first annular lip 41 extending perpendicularly to the axis 10 and a second lip 42 which is deformed after the seal 4 is installed, so that its edge 421 opposite the said first lip 41 comes to interact with the bottom 133 of the groove 13. The invention applies particularly in the field of motor vehicles for mounting a gauge to a casing. <IMAGE>
