PURPOSE:To improve the wavelength converting efficiency and temperature stability of the title laser by using an element composed of a single bulk crystal of an organic nonlinear optical material as the optical wavelength converting element which converts wavelengths a solid-state laser oscillating beam and another basic wave into a sum frequency. CONSTITUTION:A single bulk crystal 17 made of an organic nonlinear optical material which converts wavelengths of a laser beam oscillated by a solid-state laser and a laser beam 11 for pumping produced by a semiconductor laser 12 into a sum frequency is provided between resonators 16A and 16B. Since the organic nonlinear optical material, such as MNA, NPP, etc., has an extremely large nonlinear optical constant as compared with such an inorganic nonlinear optical material as LiNbO3, KTP, etc., a high wavelength converting efficiency can be obtained. On the other hand, since the change in refractive index of the organic material is mainly declined in refractive index caused by the cubical expansion of the material, the temperature dependency of the double refraction approaches zero. Therefore, the wavelength converting efficiency and stability against temperature change of this solid-state are improved. |
