The drain consists of two parallel covers (2,3), one directly above the other and joined together by vertical bars (4) with a space between the two, forming a cover plate (1) for a sports ground. The voids between the two plates are filled with concrete or bitumen (8), and the top plate (2) is covered with a plastics pad (6). The openings (5) in the two plates (1,2) are set out in chequer board fashion, but so that each alternate opening in the bottom plate (3) lies opposite a blank plate in the top plate (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Inhibits the formation of cracks in the ground.
