The active pneumatic meter assembly, to measure the linear density of fibre material, has a measuring chamber (3) with a rectangular cross section. One chamber (3) wall (5) can swing towards the opposite wall (7) on an axis (6) at the entry zone (8) of the chamber (3). An air gap (10) is between the housing (1) and the end (9) of the wall (5) towards the entry zone (8) of the chamber (3). The swing position of the wall (5) can be fixed in a number of settings. The cross seciton of the outlet (4) from the chamber (3) is altered by the positioning of the swing wall (5) on its axis (6). ADVANTAGE - The accuracy of the linear density measurement is increased through a gradual reduction of the measuring chamber cross section along its length. This gives a laminary character to the fibre material movement within the chamber to give a practically linear characteristic run for the meter.
