Magnetisable dyes, pastes or synthetics contain Fe particles. USE/ADVANTAGE - Non-magnetisable units, esp. pure Al cans, treated with the dyes, etc. can be sorted out from rubbish magnetically. The advantages of Al, e.g. compatibility with food, resistance to tropical conditions, easy processing and value as a recoverable material, can be combined with the cheapness of Fe, to give optimum recyclability.
