Glass strand division into drops - by single cutter accelerated to specified velocity

A visco-elastic strand, specially a fused glass strand, is separated in individual droplets or sections by a single moving cutter blade. This blade is accelerated to a velocity fast enough to separate the strand due to its inertia. Pref. A blade is moved on a frame along a dovetail guide system at an angle of OMEGA = 30-60 deg. of the gradient. The blade velocity should be at least 5 m/sec and up to 12 m/sec. The cut length of a drop can be 2-60 cm. ADVANTAGE - This creates a ready mass production. of glass drops without any defects caused by squeeze or shear faults by the two conventional shear blades.
