PURPOSE:To prevent the light from escaping from a sealing border and to make a border line inconspicuous by providing a colored coat and a shading part on a polarizing film on the front surface of a cell so that they may cover the border between a sealing material and a light shielding film in a band shape. CONSTITUTION:The peripery of a pair of substrates 3 is sealed with the light shielding sealing material 1 and liquid crystal 5 is sealed between the substrates 3. An electrode 8, the light shielding film 9 and an oriented film 2 are provided on the side of the opposed surfaces of the substrates 3. The colored coat 6 having lower light shielding ability than the light shielding film 9 and nearly same hue as the film 9 is provided so that it may cover the border between the sealing material 1 and the film 9 in the band shape. The light transmittivity of the coat 6 is higher than that of the film 9 and nearly same as the sealing material 1. Furthermore, the spotted shading parts 7 of colored parts are provided on at least the film 9 side of the coat 6. Thus, the light is prevented from escaping from the sealing border part and the border line between a sealing part and a background display part is made inconspicuous. |
