PURPOSE: To facilitate the installation of a centering ring of soft magnetic material in a solenoid valve for small cost and ensure its operation by interposing it between a spherical valve closing member and one end face of a core so that it is radially movable and its non-magnetic material layer faces the valve closing member. CONSTITUTION: A spherical valve closing member 1 is associated with a spherical valve seat 7 made in a valve seat body 18, and a plate 2 of soft iron with a non-magnetic material layer 3 is disposed by the sphere 1. The sphere 1 is situated under that lower end of a core 5 which receives, during an operation, a centering ring 4 of magnetic material that is movable radially along a core end face 26. The centering ring 4 is provided with a non-magnetic material layer 9 on its surface facing the valve closing member 1 shaped curvedly or conically in conformance to the sphere of the valve closing member 1. The centering ring 4 is automatically centered, during a valve operation, by the presence of the sphere of the valve closing member 1 in relation to the valve seat 7 and the soft iron plate 2 serving as a guide.
