(Cyclo)alkyl:sulphonyl benzo:tri:azole(s) - useful corrosion protection agents for metals e.g. copper and brass

(Cyclo)alkylsulphonyl-benzotriazoles of formula (I) are new: in which R = 1-18C alkyl or 3-7C cycloalkyl gp., and the R-SO-2-gp. is in the 5- or 6-position w.r.t. the -NH- gp. USE/ADVANTAGE - The (I) are esp. useful for protecting the surface of metals and metal alloys against corrosion, esp. surfaces of Cu and brass. Certain of the new cpds., such as (m)ethylsulphonylbenzotriazole have a considerable solubility in water at elevated temps. which facilitates their technical handling and application.
